Born in the family home at 1117 Wshington St., Cedar Falls, Iowa 14 July,1915. Attended public schools in Cedar Falls, graduated from high school in 1933. BA in chemistry from Iowa State Teachers College (now U. of Northern Iowa); MA and PhD, chemistry U. Iowa, Iowa City, IA in 1942. Instructor Chemistry at ISTC 1941-42, research chemist Rohm and Haas Co., Bridesburg, PA,1942-45, Asst. Prof Chem. ISTC, 1945-48, Hd. Physical Chemistry Grp Smith Kline and French, Pharmaceutical Co. Phil., PA 1948-1952 and Director of Research at the U.S. Army Natick Laboratories, Natick, MA. from 1952-1982..

U.S. Army Fellowship during 1967 in Europe visiting research laboratories and Universities. Retired 1982.
