Notes: Joined the U.S. Navy in World War I and as an Ensign was assigned to the communications office at the White House. After the war he worked for the United States Shipping Board repatriating former enemy ships taken in reparations. In the course of this he travelled all over Europe and India and Japan getting ships made seaworthy to get them back to the U.S. The work was completed in 1922/23 when he started work for the F.W.Woolworth Co. at their first store in England at Liverlpool.
Later he was named manager of the Leeds Woolworth store the largest Woolworth store in Eurpope. Source Donald Simpson.
