Occupation: Meerchant
Father: Samuel Bailey
Mother: Mary Rolfe
Notes: Samuel Bailey Jr., a small business man in Amherst, Mass., died at the Battle of Bunker Hill on June 17, 1775 along with about 140 other Patriots who responded to the British troops landing in the Boston harbor to seek and destory munitions which the Minutemen had sashed in the outlying communities of Boston following the skirmishes at Lexington and Concord in April of that year. His name appears on a marker at the site of the Bunker Hill Battle. Some records report that a brother died in the same battle but this has not been confirmed.
