A note has two qualities - pitch and duration. Sometimes when musicians say "note" they are talking only of a note's pitch, sometimes they mean how long the note lasts, and sometimes they are talking about both. You can usually tell which of these they mean by the context.

pitch

We are talking about pitch when we say a note is high or low. Or when we talk about an F#.

duration

The duration of a note is how long it lasts.
